Pelvic Floor Therapy San Francisco Incontinence

Women and men both experience urinary and fecal incontinence. There are several types of incontinence including dribbling a little bit when you cough, sneeze, laugh or jump; having to run to the bathroom because of urgent need to go to the toilet and leaking when the bladder is too full. Reasons for incontinence include muscular incoordination either from weakness, muscle spasm or scar tissue formation. These problem may develop over a long period of time or as the result of a recent incident and may be the result of trauma to the area from falls, childbirth, infections and surgical procedures.

“I developed incontinence following the birth of my two children. I needed to use a panty liner daily in case of sneezing and even a pad didn't contain leakage during exertion. When I went hiking (my passion), I could feel leakage with each step and the pad and my underwear and pants would all be wet. 20 years later I decided to do something about it! My gynecologist recommended a consultation with a urologist for surgery. Instead, I consulted with Amy and after just one session of evaluation and training, a month with a biofeedback machine and an ongoing home exercise program, I am no longer incontinent. I hike, sneeze and exert myself without even using a panty liner now. I recommend Amy for her detailed knowledge and expertise, empathy, and effectiveness in addressing and resolving my debilitating problem!”
